EDITING FOR MEDICAL WRITERS (Learn AMA Style)

Medical Editing -- Learn the AMA Manual of Style

This course is for people already working as medical writers who want to take a deep dive into learning the AMA Manual of Style so that they can spend less time looking things up during their day-to-day writing work. It's also for anyone with a strong science background (eg, BS in biology or higher) wanting to make money on the side or full-time as a freelance medical editor.

Module 1: Introduction -- all about what we will cover and a few action steps.

Module 2: Basic grammar and editing -- this will cover the basics of editing and is foundational for the next module 3, which covers the AMA Manual of Style.

Module 3: All about the AMA Manual of Style -- the main things you need to know and a lengthy test where you can self-evaluate your knowledge. Includes downloadable pdfs that you can refer to as you work.

Module 4: Medical writing support services -- this includes information about other services that aren't exactly writing or editing but that are complementary services that you can offer to the same client base. These include medical transcribing, annotation, fact checking, and researching and compiling data and gap analyses.

Module 5: Setting up shop -- this includes all the information you will need to start your business, some ideas for getting your first clients, and suggestions about how to interact with new and potential clients.
